Help us help them...
Joan received a notice of eviction from the assisted living facility where she resides. At 82 years old, Joan was frightened because she had
nowhere else to go. Her grandson had been showing up around the first of the month and had Joan endorse her social security checks.
She thought that he had paid her rent, but he just simply took her money. The administrator of the facility called DVFA and with Joan's
consent, we were able to receive her social security benefits and became her "Representative Payee." As a result, we made sure that all
future monies were spent for Joan's needs and ultimately prevented Joan's eviction.
Joan is only one of more than 300 local clients DVFA assisted last year. There are so many more of our elderly citizens who are alone,
frail, and lonely. Donations and fees support the Foundation, however, since the fees do not cover all of the costs of the programs and
its professional staff, we are asking for the help of our local community to contribute to these vital services.
Your donation of $25, $50, $75, $100 or more makes the vulnerable elderly a priority in your community and in your heart. Donate now online
by clicking one of the buttons above, or send a check to: DVFA 1936 Tice Valley Blvd. Walnut Creek, CA 94595. If you have a question about any
in-kind donations, please call (925) 945-8040. And thank you for supporting the Diablo Valley Foundation for the Aging.
